How to download Essay as a PWA (progressive web app)

You can download Essay as a PWA (progressive web-app) on your computer, tablet or mobile device. A PWA runs off your browser but looks and feels like a traditional app, giving you a more seamless and optimized writing experience.

iOS

Google Chrome

Open Chrome and go to write.essay.app. Press the "share" button in the address bar at the top of your screen:

Select the "Add to Home Screen" option:

Select "Add" - you can customize the name if you like:

The Essay PWA will appear on your home screen with all your other apps:

Safari

Open Safari and go to write.essay.app. Press the "share" button in the address bar at the bottom of your screen:

Select the "Add to Home Screen" option:

Select "Add" - you can customize the name if you like:

The Essay PWA will appear on your home screen with all your other apps:

Android

Google Chrome

Open Chrome and go to write.essay.app. Press the context menu (three dots) next to the address bar at the top of your screen:

Select the "Add to Home Screen" option:

Select "Install":

The Essay PWA will appear on your home screen with all your other apps:

Download Essay PWA to your laptop

Chrome

Open Chrome and go to write.essay.app. Click the "Install Essay App" button in your address bar:

Then click "Install":

Or, click the "context menu" (or three dots) to the right of your address bar. Then, under the "Save and Share" menu, select "Install Essay App...":

Then click "Install":

Safari

Open Safari and go to write.essay.app. Click the "Share" button to the right of the address bar and select the "Add to Dock" option:

Edit the name if you like, and click "Add":
